Privacy notice
Last updated 1 October 2026. This explains what personal information N4 Sports collects, why, and what your rights are. It is written for visitors in the UK, the European Economic Area (EEA) and the USA. Please read it with our Terms of Use and Cookie notice.
1. Who is responsible
The “controller” of your information is the owner of N4 Sports. Contact us through the Contact page about anything in this notice.
2. What we collect and why
If you make an account: your email address, the display name you choose, a one-way scrambled version (hash) of your password (we cannot read your password), your age group (13 to 15, 16 to 17 or 18+) and whether a parent or guardian agreed if you are 13 to 15, the version of the Terms you accepted and when, whether your email is confirmed, when you joined and last signed in, your favourite club and fighter, and the darts name you link. We use this to run your account, keep it secure, keep the site suitable for your age, and show you your own details. Our legal bases are performing our contract with you (running your account), our legitimate interests (security, preventing abuse, keeping a record of consent), and our legal obligations (child safety and consumer law).
Sign-in and security records: when you sign in we store a hashed session code, the first part of your browser description (user agent) and an expiry date (sessions last up to 30 days). To stop password guessing and abuse we keep short-lived counters made from one-way scrambled versions of your IP address and email; these are deleted within about two days. Email confirmation and password-reset links are stored only as hashes and expire after 24 hours or 1 hour. Legitimate interests: security and fraud prevention.
Email: we send only emails you need to run your account (confirm your email, reset your password) and replies to messages you send us. We do not send marketing emails. If that changes we will ask you first.
Arcade: if you join a game leaderboard we store the playing name you choose, a hashed private code that proves the name is yours, and your match results, XP and badges. Leaderboard names, levels and scores are public. Progress that is not uploaded stays in your own browser. Legal basis: contract (running the game you chose to play).
Contact messages: your name, email, topic and message, used to reply and keep a record. Legal basis: legitimate interests and, for rights requests, legal obligation.
Visits and how the site is used: a random visitor and session code, pages viewed, referring page and campaign tags, and device type. Separately, your approximate country (worked out from your connection when you load a page) decides which where-to-watch options we show you. We do not store your IP address in our visit statistics. We use this information to count visits, fix problems and decide what to build. We also record clicks on affiliate links and ad views and placements without your name or email. Where the law requires consent for the cookies involved, we rely on your consent; otherwise our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site.
What we do not collect: we do not ask for your date of birth, address, phone number, payment details (nothing is for sale today) or government ID, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
3. Advertising and affiliate links
N4 shows adverts from Google AdSense and may in future use other ad partners. They may use cookies and similar technologies to show and measure ads, and may show personalised ads where you have agreed. You can manage this with the cookie banner, the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, and in your Google ad settings. When you click an affiliate link (for example Amazon or DAZN through a partner network) the other company and its network may recognise you and tell us if you buy; we do not see your payment details. We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not give your account details (email, name) to advertisers.
4. Who we share information with
We use trusted providers to run N4, who may only use your information for us and under contract: our website host (Vercel), our database host (Supabase), our email sender (Resend), our analytics and social-reporting tool (Metricool), Google (advertising), and our sports-data supplier (which receives no personal information about you). Embedded content such as Instagram posts is provided by the other company when you load it. We may share information with the police, regulators or courts where the law requires, to protect people from harm, or to protect our legal rights, and with a buyer if the business is ever sold (they must follow this notice).
5. International transfers
Our providers may process information outside the UK and EEA, including in the USA. Where that happens we rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or the UK-US and EU-US data bridges (Data Privacy Framework), as applicable to each provider.
6. How long we keep it
Account details are kept until you delete your account, then removed from our live systems straight away (copies in encrypted backups are overwritten on the provider’s normal cycle). Sessions end after 30 days or when you sign out. Security counters are deleted within about two days, and email links within a day of expiring. Leaderboard scores stay under your playing name after an account is deleted unless you ask us to remove them. Contact messages are kept for as long as needed to deal with them and for up to 24 months afterwards, and longer where needed for a legal claim. Visit statistics are reviewed regularly and deleted or reduced to totals when no longer useful.
7. Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask to: see the information we hold about you; have it corrected; have it deleted; restrict or object to how we use it (including objecting to anything based on our legitimate interests); receive it in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time (this does not affect earlier use). You can download your account data and delete your account yourself on your account page. For anything else use the Contact page; we will reply within one month. You can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113) or to the data protection authority in your EU country, though we hope you will let us put things right first.
8. People in the USA
Depending on your state (for example California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas and others), you may have rights to know what personal information we collect and why, to access, correct and delete it, to opt out of its sale, of sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising, and of targeted advertising, and not to be treated worse for using these rights. In the last 12 months we have collected the categories listed in section 2 (identifiers such as email and display name, internet activity, approximate location, and account details) for the purposes listed. We do not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies from our ad partners may count as “sharing” or “targeted advertising” under some state laws; you can opt out through the ad choices on the site, your browser’s Global Privacy Control setting, or the Contact page, and we will honour that. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (COPPA); if you think a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you. We do not make decisions about you using automated profiling that has legal or similarly significant effects.
9. Children and young people
The public site can be used at any age, but accounts are for people 13 and over, and 13 to 15 year olds need a parent or guardian’s permission. We keep the collection of young people’s information to what is needed to run an account, we do not use it for advertising profiles, and the Odds and betting information on N4 is for adults only. Parents can ask us to see or delete a child’s information through the Contact page.
10. Security
We protect accounts with strong one-way password hashing, hashed session codes, secure cookies, limits on sign-in attempts and database access controls. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach is likely to harm you we will tell you and the regulator as the law requires. Please use a long, unique password.
11. Changes
We will update this notice when our practices or the law change and will change the date at the top. For important changes affecting account holders we will tell you on the site or by email.
